I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday! And now....
From the London Evening Standard's "This is London" entertainment guide (and where else would librarians be, but in the entertainment section?): Librarians 'should be sexier'. Not only should we be sexier, it seems, but we should also stop calling ourselves librarians. I have to say, I think Mr. Aiken is spot on in saying "The concept of the librarian has to change", although I really truly wish he'd found a better way to describe how he thinks the concept should change.
Fall has finally arrived! It's a very brisk 64° out there. Glad I kept my coat at lunch!
A blog to supplement "You don't look like a librarian!"...plus whatever else grabs my attention in the world of libraries.

Gobble, Gobble, Oink
Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone - I'm off to Texas to eat ham, turkey and pumpkin pie, and to work on my twang. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

The Librarian Returns At Last!
Finally, an air date! TNT plans on showing the sequel to "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear", titled "The Librarian: Return to King Solomon's Mines", on Sunday, December 3rd. Returning are Noah Wyle as Flynn Carsen, Bob Newhart as Judson (Flynn's boss), and Jane Curtin as Charlene (the big stick in the library!). Wyle has stated that he's interested in continuing Carsen's adventures, maybe in New Orleans. I'll just keep my fingers crossed - they're cheesy but thoroughly enjoyable! (As long as Flynn's mom doesn't have any more comments about librarians, that is....)
Don't forget to check out the online comic as well!

Your Photo In A Librarian Caricature
Hmmm... "Imagine your photo in a "Librarian" Caricature!" I'm almost tempted to send in a picture and see what they do.

Ah, Sweet Victory!
Ok, I know I said I wasn't going to do any political ranting. So let me just say, Boo-Yah!, and then I'll go back to smiling.... over the election results and the great news about Rumsfeld.
Woo hoo!

Blinded By Library Science
Fabulous! As a librarian and a giant Thomas Dolby fan, what better shirt could there be? "She Blinded Me with Library Science" T-shirt from Questionable Content - a welcome addition to the closet!
I Am a Librarian
I'd like to take a moment and give another plug to Cynthia Wilson and her "I Am a Librarian" project. Cynthia and I talked ages ago when she was starting up this project; sadly, our paths never crossed so I'm not one of the librarians photographed for her book (woe is me!) - but I've always thought it was a most-relevant project, and to see the wide variety of librarians smiling back from the gallery is a wonderful thing. Be sure to check it out, and if Cynthia succeeds in finding a publisher, be sure to buy her book!
LISNews has an interview with Cynthia that's also well worth a read; also be sure to check out her blog!
