It's not quite a random collection of stuff today; rather, posts relating to the future (both things to do, and things to dream of):

* AndyW's posting "5 Universal Truths That All Librarians Can Agree Upon Right Now" is, IMHO, danged true.

* Blake's collection of "10 Librarian Blogs to Read" is always good, and I always find one or two more to add to my reader. Check it out, I bet you'll find a few too!

* LJ has a series of video interviews with Marilyn Johnson, author of "This Book Is Overdue! How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All," currently on my to-read list. (hi Sally!)

* For the first time in 1600 years, there is again a Librarian of Alexandria. (hi to Mandy, who's lucky enough to work there!)

* I am totally going to be playing around with concept maps.

Blog Analyzers

Found via Stephen's Lighthouse:

Typealyzer – provides a Myers-Briggs type analysis of your blog. This blog analyzes as ESTP, which probably doesn't surprise many folks :-)

Genderanalyzer – determines what sex you write like. It seems I'm a gender-neutral writer!

Readability Test - determines what grade level your blog is written at. This one came in at college (undergrad) level.

Catching Up, Part 1

Thanks for the well-wishes, folks! The battle continues but I think I'm starting to win it...

I'm still catching up on things, but here's the first round of items that caught my eye:

* Computers in Libraries was, apparently, a blast - once again I'm bummed to have missed it. Check out the blog posts about it via Technorati.

* This is just cool: "Space Tethers: Slinging Objects in Orbit?"

* Somehow, I think I already knew this: Daily Show viewers are more informed than Fox News viewers. Check out the Pew Research Center's report.

* The First InfoTubey Awards happened April 17th! Check out the winners!

* Another video contest, this time for "Library Love" - from Thomson Gale's librareo project.

It's a sunny 73° and I'm heading home for the rest of the day.

BlogLines Playlists

So, I'm spending today reading blogs for the first time in over a month. Since last I visited, BlogLines has added this totally spiffy new tool, Playlists. I subscribe to 69 feeds (today, at least) and while I enjoy them all, some are more, well, crucial to me than others. So now I have set up a "Top Reads" playlist for my 14 most-important blogs. If I can get through those, great, and if I have time to work through the others that's even better, with the few I subscribe to just for fun at the bottom of the list (well, most of the time). But if I can get through my top-reads list, I at least feel a bit more connected and less clueless about current happenings in libraryland.

I love tools like this. I love organizing things! Whee!

Brr: Winter has arrived, at long last. I now know that 56° is my "yep, it's winter" cut-off temperature. (Call me a wimp if you want; come back when it's 115° and I'm happy as a clam, and we'll talk.)
